Released on February 23, 1994. In light of the 27th anniversary of HIDE YOUR FACE (album) by the beloved Japanese musician star hide, I made an attempt to evince the meaning of the track 'A Story'. Among the tracklist, personally, it piqued my interest. As it imparts melodies of serenity that dwell on what we will be after some time has passed, I like it the most. I wouldn't be able to stumble across this masterpiece if it wasn't because of IMPULSE-hide TRIBUTE- (2018 album).
Personal interpretation of the song
Someday, we will become a story that will be told. The time of our lives is flawed and bound to a limit. Every life journeys end that way. Written like this, the presence of sentimentality is strong that it took me to get the picture of how we should live our lives.
Most of the song is an instrumental played with an acoustic guitar, it tells us that the time could go wrong, or at some point, it will stop even though we want more of living. The desire to keep on going—we have it within, perhaps it's for what you want to obtain or for others. To make amends, we could restart on something. But still, time can't just wait for us or grant extensions no matter how much we think of convincing it.
In the fullness of time, the life in memory just becomes a part of the vast everything. The one of the story may have wanted to convince the clock as it does not want to believe what's bound to happen, it believes it's just a dream. Nothing can be done before long which the last line of the lyrics depicts. And this is where my interpretation of hide's musicality concludes.
It's one of those hide songs that want us to grasp that we are meant to settle our lives to the fullest. As I rethink about the course of existence, the best we could do is to move forward, work hard, but if you already know that something needs to be worked on with fixing, do it while you still have everything you need.
